Crockpot Clam Chowder

Ingredients

4 (6 1/2 oz) Cans clams or 3 lbs fresh/frozen
1/2 lb Bacon, diced
1 Onion, chopped
6 Small turnips, peeled, and cubed

3 C Water
3 1/2 t Salt
1/4 t Pepper
4 C Heavy cream
2 t Xanthan gum

Directions

Cut clams into bite sized pieces if necessary.



In skillet, saute bacon and onion until golden brown, drain.



Put into crockpot with clams.



Add all remaining ingredients, except cream.



Cover and cook on high 3 to 4 hours until turnips are tender.



During the last hour of cooking, combine 1 cup of cream with the xanthan gum. Add this mixture and the remaining cream to the crockport and stir well, heat through.
