Winter Warm Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients

1 lb Head of cabbage
1 Onion, chopped
2 lbs Ground beef
1/2 t Salt
1/2 C Dry white wine
6 Slices Bacon, thick sliced

1 T Vegetable oil
1 lb Pork, cubed
1 t Caraway seeds
1/2 t Pepper
1 t Vegetable oil

Directions

Remove outer wilted cabbage leaves and the core.



Place cabbage in alarge pot of boiling water and simmer gently for 10 minutes. Remove and drain. Gently pull off 12 leaves and set aside.



Finely chop the rest of the cabbage.



Heat 1 T vegetable oil, add onions, pork, and ground beef. Cook until lightly browned. Drain off excess fat.



Add the chopped cabbage, caraway seeds, salt, adn pepper. Add wine. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes stirring often.



Grease an overproof dishe with 1 t of vegetable oil.



Line dish with 1/2 of the reserved cabbage leaves.



Spoon in the meat mixture, cover with the rest of the cabbage leaves.



Cut bacon strips to fit dish and arrange on top the cabbage leaves.



Place in preheated 350F degree oven, bake for 45 minutes. Bacon should be crisp and top golden.
