Cheddar Chowder

Ingredients

2 C boiling water
2 C diced turnips
1/2 C diced red bell pepper
1/2 C sliced celery
1/4 C chopped onion
1 1/2 t salt

1/4 t pepper
1/4 C Butter
1 1/2 t Xanthan gum
2 C Heavy cream
2 C shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 C cubed cooked ham

Directions

Add water to turnips, pepper, celery, onion, salt & pepper. Cover; simmer 10 minutes. Do not drain.



Make white sauce with butter, heavy cream. Add xanthan gum a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.



Add cheese; stir until melted.



Add ham & undrained vegetables. Heat; do not boil.


Additional Information

Try using cooked, crumbled bacon in place of the ham.
