Gorgonzola Turnip Casserole

Ingredients

1/4 C Walnuts
1/2 C Sour cream
1/4 C Gorgonzola cheese, room temperature

1/2 t Freshly ground pepper
Dash tabasco sauce
12 Sliced thick bacon
5 Turnips, peeled
2 T Chives

Directions

Roast the walnuts in a 400F degree oven until crisp. Cool.



When walnuts are cool, chop coarsely.



Roast the turnips in a 400F degree oven until soft, about 40 minutes, let cool.



Cut the bacon into 1/4 inch dice and saute until crisp and brown, drain well.



Combine the sour cream, gorgonzola, salt, pepper, and tabasco sauce.



Cut the room temperature turnips in half and squeeze slightly to flatten out the bottoms.



Spread with the gorgonzola cream, sprinkle with the bacon and walnuts, place on a plater. Sprinkle the platter and turnips with the chives. Serve at room temperature.
