Ingredients

2 pounds stew beef
1 small onioin
oil for browning
1 tsp salt
3 cups vinegar
3 cups water
1 tsp allspice
2 tbsp soy flour (for gravy)

Directions

Brown beef with onion in a small amount of oil in large heavy saucepan. Add salt, vinegar allspice and water. Bring to a simmer and cook over low heat for 1 1/2 hours. Drain off 2 cups of pan drippings; add soy flour and simmer until sauce has thickened stirring frequently.
