Tofu with Sesame Marinade

Ingredients

2-one lb blocks of firm tofu
1-2 tablespoons of dark sesame oil
1/4 sesame seeds
1 inch piece of ginger, peeled and minced
1 small red onion cut in half and sliced very thin
2-3 tablespoons of tamari (low sodium if desired)
1/2 cup of rice vinegar

Directions

early in the day, cut tofu into one inch thick slices and lay flat in a wide non-metal container. In a skillet, heat sesame oil, add sesame seeds, and stir constantly until fragrant. Add ginger and onion and saute for 5 mins. Add tamari and vinegar and simmer for another 5 minutes. Pour over tofu and let marinate turning occasionally.



remove tofu from marinade and cook as directed below



Tofu maybe be baked in the oven at 375 degrees for 15 minutes (baste after about 7) or fried on each side for 5 minutes.
