Tandoori Style Chicken

Ingredients

1 8oz Carton plain yogurt

2 T Lemon juice

2 t Grated ginger root or 3/4 t ground ginger

1 t Ground coriander


1/2 t Ground cumin

1/4 t Ground turmeric

1/8 t Ground cayenne pepper

1 Garlic clove, minced

2 lbs Chicken breasts (4 large)

Directions

MARINADE:



Combine yogurt, lemon juice, ginger root, coriander, cumin, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and garlic in a small mixing bowl.



Rinse chicken and pat dry. Place chicken in a heavy plastic bag set into deep bowl. Pour marinade over chicken in bag. Seal bag and turn chicken to coat well. Marinate in the refrigerator for 24 hours, turning bag occasionally. Remove chicken from the bag. Reserve marinade. Chill reserved marinade while grilling chicken.



In a covered grill arrange medium hot coals around a drip pan. Place chicken bone side down, on the grill rack over the drip pan but not over the coals. Cover and grill for 50 to 60 minutes or until chicken is tender and no longer pink, brushing with marinade during the last 10 minutes of grilling.
