Pan de Muertos (Mexican Bread of the Dead)

Ingredients

BREAD:

One package Atkins bread mix for country white bread
2 t Anise seed
1/2 C Splenda
2 t Orange zest


GLAZE:

1/4 C Splenda granular
1/4 C Prepared sugar free Tang orange drink
1 T Orange zest
2 T Splenda granular

Directions

Prepare bread mix according to directions on package adding anise seed, 1/2 cup of splenda granular, and orange zest. Follow instructions for bread to rise.



When rising is completed, punch the dough down and shape it inot a round loaf with a round knob on top. Place dough on baking sheet and loosely cover with platic wrap and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or unitl just about doubled in size.



Bake in a preheated oven at 350F degrees for about 35 to 45 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool



TO MAKE GLAZE:



In a small saucepan, combine the 1/4 cup splenda granular, the sugar free tang adn the orange zest. Bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for 2 minutes.



Brush glaze over the top of the bread while the bread is still warm. Sprinkle glazed bread with the 2 T splenda granular.
